Our
Sustainability Journey
At Terrascope, we believe that business growth and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. That's why we aim to lead by example and demonstrate how sustainable practices can drive both emissions reduction and economic success.

The Climate Pledge
In line with our commitment to impactful climate action, we have joined The Climate Pledge, an initiative co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism, committing to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
While the Terrascope platform empowers companies to enhance transparency in emissions reporting, we uphold the same standard for ourselves. Year after year, we disclose our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions alongside the actions we are taking to mitigate them.
Emissions in 2022
Terrascope’s emissions amounted to 313 tonnes of CO2e, with 0.3% being Scope 1, 1.7% being Scope 2, and 98% being Scope 3 emissions.
Leveraging our Platform to Achieve Decarbonisation Goals
To make significant strides in our decarbonisation journey, we used our SaaS platform to forecast our business-as-usual emissions growth to 2030, enabling us to identify and prioritise impactful reduction initiatives.
As part of our net zero strategy, we identified five key actions towards reducing our greenhouse gas emissions within our operations and value chain. These actions, ranked in order of priority, are:
1. Increase Platform Efficiency
We have migrated our SaaS capabilities to AWS, enhancing cloud sustainability through efficient programming, modern algorithms, optimised data storage, and renewable energy usage.
By implementing sustainable product design, we aim to cut emissions by 1,570 tCO2e below Business-As-Usual (BAU) levels by 2030, leading to a 50% reduction in platform energy consumption across user devices and cloud storage.
2. Reduce Business Travel
We aim to reduce emissions by 279.3 tCO2e below Business-As-Usual (BAU) in 2030, by setting a carbon cap at 1.5 times the level of 2023 business travel measurements, covering flights and hotels.
We will institute an internal carbon budget for travel emissions to prioritise air travel only when critical.
3. Prioritise Supplier Engagement
We rent 90% of our IT equipment from circular economy providers to reduce e-waste, improve efficiency, extend the lifespan of IT equipment, and ensure proper disposal of end-of-life devices.
We will also design a supplier engagement programme, starting engagement with priority suppliers.
4. Embrace Renewable Energy
We plan to reduce energy emissions by 22.7 tCO2e below Business-As-Usual (BAU) in 2030, by purchasing renewable energy certificates (RECs) for 100% of the electricity consumed in offices.
5. Optimising Air Conditioning
Our goal is to cut air conditioning emissions by 12.2 tCO2e below Business-As-Usual (BAU) levels by 2030. This will be achieved through the adoption of lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants and improving usage to decrease electricity consumption by 15%.
Case Studies
The world's technology companies are learning from Terrascope on how they can reduce their emissions
“As a software company, we are focused on helping other companies make swift, credible progress in their decarbonisation journey. But this pledge is focused on us. While the world needs to reach net zero by 2050 to limit global warming to 1.5°C, those of us who strive to move faster and go further must do so”.
